Pack this
- Trail shoes with aggressive lugs for muddy, slick terrain
- Fitted compression top and shorts (avoid loose cotton on obstacles)
- Lightweight grip gloves for rope, monkey bars, and rigs
- Hydration vest or handheld + electrolyte tabs (mandatory for Beast/Ultra)
- Photo ID, signed waiver, and a dry change of clothes for bag check
What you should know
- Failed obstacles require 30 burpees before continuing — no skipping allowed under Spartan rules.
- CDMX sits at ~2,240m altitude; expect reduced pace and breathe harder on climbs, hydrate early.
- Rainy August weather means muddy obstacles and slick walls — grip strength and footing matter more than usual.
- Ultra 50km and Beast have time cutoffs and mandatory gear checks (hydration, cup); arrive 90+ min early for bib pickup.
- Bag check is provided but no valuables — wedding rings and watches can be lost in mud pits and water obstacles.
