Why this race

  • Abbott World Marathon Majors member
  • Globally televised flagship US marathon
  • Elite field plus tens of thousands of recreational runners

If you like Berlin Marathon or New York City Marathon, you'll like this one.

Pack this

  • Bib, photo ID, and gear-check bag with pre-marked number
  • Long-sleeve throwaway shirt and gloves for 11°C corral wait
  • Two gels at 30min + 4-5 more for on-course fueling
  • Vaselined/lubed nipples, toes, and inner thighs; blister tape
  • Lightweight cap or visor and sunglasses for cloud-glare miles

What you should know

  • Course closes after 6h30 at a 15:00/mile pace; intermediate cutoffs sweep slower runners onto sidewalks.
  • Gear check is at Grant Park only — no bag drop at start corrals, so arrive with throwaway layers.
  • Aid stations every 1-2 miles offer Gatorade Endurance, water, and Maurten gels near mile 18.
  • Security screening at park entry bans backpacks, glass, and selfie sticks; use the clear gear-check bag provided.
  • Expect crowded bridges and tangents through 29 neighborhoods — run inside corners to avoid adding distance.
