Why this race

  • Part of the HOKA UTMB Mont-Blanc week in Chamonix
  • Serves as the 100K category final of the UTMB World Series
  • Iconic point-to-point course through Italy, Switzerland, and France
  • Followed worldwide, with elite fields

If you like UTMB Mont-Blanc or Western States 100, you'll like this one.

Pack this

  • Waterproof jacket with taped seams and hood, plus waterproof overtrousers
  • Two headlamps with spare batteries for the night section
  • Reusable cup, 1L minimum water capacity, emergency blanket and whistle
  • Warm layers: long-sleeve midlayer, hat, and waterproof gloves for the cols
  • Trekking poles, phone, ID and race bib for kit checks

What you should know

  • UTMB mandatory gear is checked at bib pickup and can be spot-checked on course. Missing items can get you penalties.
  • Courmayeur to Chamonix crosses Italy, Switzerland and France, so carry ID and check the cutoff times at each life base.
  • Expect about 6200m of climbing and cols above 2500m, like Grand Col Ferret. Sudden cold, wind and storms are common.
  • The aid stations are cupless and have limited food, so carry your own fuel between the bigger checkpoints.
  • Check the official race guide for drop-bag rules and shuttle times back from Chamonix before race week.
