Pack this

  • Headlamp with spare batteries for night descent or pre-dawn ultra starts
  • Waterproof shell jacket for sudden Sierra Norte fog and rain
  • 1.5L hydration capacity plus electrolyte tabs and reusable cup
  • Gels or real food every 30-45 min for long climbs over 4,000m gain
  • Trail shoes with aggressive lugs for steep, muddy, rocky terrain

What you should know

  • Elevation gain is severe: the 55K climbs about 4,924m, so pace conservatively on the first climbs.
  • Tlatlauquitepec sits in misty highlands; expect fog, humidity and slick trails even when it's a mild 18°C.
  • Check the official race guide for mandatory gear, cutoffs and drop-bag rules before bib pickup.
  • Carry a whistle and charged phone; follow course markings closely, as visibility can drop fast in fog.
  • Traildog runners should bring water and a collapsible bowl for their dog and keep it leashed.
