Pack this

  • UTMB mandatory kit: waterproof jacket, headlamp + spare, whistle, foil blanket
  • Soft flasks or 1.5L bladder + electrolyte tabs for canyon exposure
  • Reusable collapsible cup (no disposables at aid stations) + gels
  • Buff, cap, SPF 50 — Divisadero sits at 2250m with strong UV
  • Aggressive-lug trail shoes plus a light midlayer for cold nights

What you should know

  • UTMB mandatory gear checks are enforced at bib pickup and randomly on course; missing items mean disqualification.
  • Start elevation is ~2250m at Divisadero with steep technical descents into the canyon and brutal climbs back out.
  • Cutoffs on the 100M/100K are strict; study timing barriers per aid station and plan drop-bag contents accordingly.
  • Daytime is mild but canyon nights drop sharply — carry warm layers even on shorter distances finishing after dark.
  • Cell coverage is minimal in the barrancas; follow markings and respect Rarámuri community land along the route.
