Why this race

  • World Athletics Platinum/Gold Label road race, outside the WMM
  • Canada's premier marathon with TCS title sponsorship and decades of history
  • Hosts the Athletics Canada national marathon championships and has doubled as Olympic Trials

If you like Rotterdam Marathon or Frankfurt Marathon, you'll like this one.

Pack this

  • Throwaway long-sleeve top or poncho for the cool pre-dawn start corral
  • Energy gels: one every 40-45 min after the first hour (4-6 for marathon)
  • Light gloves and a cap or headband for wind off Lake Ontario
  • Anti-chafe balm and race belt or safety pins for your bib
  • Dry warm layer and recovery drink packed in your gear-check bag

What you should know

  • Expect a breeze off Lake Ontario along the waterfront sections; it can feel colder than 10°C.
  • Marathon and half routes are largely flat, so pace evenly and avoid going out too fast early.
  • Check the official site for bib pickup times and course time limits; slower runners may be moved off closed roads.
  • Arrive early for transit and gear check, as downtown road closures and crowds slow access to the start.
  • Drink to thirst at aid stations; cool weather lowers sweat cues but you still need fluids and electrolytes.
