Pack this

  • Road bike, tuned and inspected, with spare tube + mini pump or CO2
  • CPSC-certified helmet (mandatory) and cycling gloves
  • Two 500ml bottles + 2-3 energy gels or bars for the 40-mile ride
  • Light wind/rain shell over jersey — 18°C with bridge wind chill
  • Printed bib confirmation + photo ID for packet pickup at expo

What you should know

  • Helmets are mandatory and aero bars, e-bikes, and headphones are prohibited on course.
  • Packet/bib must be picked up in person at the pre-ride expo — no race-day pickup, no mailing.
  • Staggered wave start from lower Manhattan; arrive 60-90 min early for security screening and bag check.
  • Verrazzano Bridge has a hard cutoff around 11:30am — ride steady through Central Park and the Bronx to make it.
  • Finish is on Staten Island; plan the ferry back to Manhattan, which gets very crowded post-ride.
