The Trans Pyrenees Race (TPR) is a self-supported ultra distance cycling event that traverses the Pyrenees from coast to coast and back again. Starting and finishing in Girona, riders tackle up to 2000 km of remote and spectacular mountain scenery, including the fearsome RAID Pyreneen with cols such as Aubisque, Soulor, Tourmalet, Aspin, and Peyresourde.

- Front and rear lights plus spare batteries or dynamo/USB backup
- Waterproof jacket, arm/leg warmers and full-finger gloves for Pyrenean cols
- GPS unit with the full route preloaded plus paper backup and cache battery
- Tubeless plugs, two tubes, tyre levers, mini-pump, chain links and multitool
- Bivy kit: sleeping bag or quilt, mat and reflective vest for night riding
What you should know
- This is a 2000 km self-supported ultra: no drafting, no outside assistance, resupply only from public sources.
- Nights are cold at altitude even after a mild 20C day, so plan layers for long high-mountain descents.
- Rear light and rear reflector are required after dark; ride visible and obey all local traffic law.
- Sleep is your own responsibility. Plan bivy or hotel stops before fatigue makes descending dangerous.
- Attend the pre-race briefing and bike/kit check in Girona and carry your tracker at all times.
