  • Waterproof hooded jacket with taped seams for Patagonian wind and rain
  • Thermal base layer, beanie and windproof gloves for a cold early-spring start
  • Soft flasks or bottles holding at least 1L plus electrolyte tabs
  • Gels or bars, one every 30-45 min for the 35K and 50K
  • Whistle, foil blanket, reusable cup and charged phone

What you should know

  • Late September is early spring in Patagonia, so expect strong gusts, cold temperatures and sudden rain or sleet.
  • Exposed sections can bring crosswinds above 80 km/h, so shorten your stride and keep your footing low on ridges.
  • Check the official race guide for mandatory gear, cutoffs and bib pickup times. Rules may differ by distance.
  • Villa Río Serrano is remote with limited services, so book a place to stay and transport to the start early.
  • Stay on the marked course inside Torres del Paine areas. Fire and littering rules are strictly enforced.
